Donated Items Should Be Ones
You'd Be Proud To Sell To A Friend!
We know our supporters that make donations have the best intentions when they bring us items to resell for the participating nonprofits. But, when we receive stuff that's dirty, broken, damaged or has no resale value, it costs precious money in labor and disposal costs to deal with them. High fuel prices have caused disposal costs to skyrocket!
We understand that it can be hard to figure out the potential value of some items you'd like to donate. If you follow the general guidelines below it will help ensure that the things you do donate have the best chance of being resold to the benefit of the participating nonprofits.
WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO DECLINE DONATIONS
General Tips
- Cross reference items you're thinking of donating to the list below to help ensure they are items we can accept
- Check the pockets of clothing for jewelry, money and other items you might not want to donate
- Place clothing into different bags or boxes than those used for household items
- RETAIN EXCESS WIRE HANGERS, we have absolutely no use for more hangers, but thanks for the thought!
- Ensure clothing is clean, free of pet hair and stains and is no more than 5 years old; household goods are clean, plastic items not stained or warped
- Test electrical equipment and battery-operated stuff to make sure they work
- Include all pieces/parts to games, toys and small electrical appliances
Donating DO's:
- Ask yourself if you would proudly sell the item to a friend or relative before you donate it. If you wouldn't - we can't use it
- Leave donations at the store only during open business hours. Donations dropped outside are stolen.
- Wash all clothing. We DO NOT wash clothing. If we can't immediately hang it on a hanger and have it look relatively wrinkle free and appealing, we can't use it.
- Discard all small, odd-bits of toys/games; plastic cups and free promo items/mugs; shoes that are NOT completely clean, new and only worn no more than a few times
Donating Don'ts:
- Broken, 'needs minor repair', soiled items or bed pillows
- Don't leave donations outside when the store is closed - they are stolen or left all over the parking lot
